Top cover vent location RBT 5DS/2-201

The top cover on this ZF has a vent that has a 3 inch long tube that sticks down in the trans near the ring and pinion. If i mount the cover so that the vent is closest to the front then the vent tube clears everything inside but the two trans mount holes are approx 2 inches toward the back to far. If i turn the cover around and have the vent toward back--the trans mounts correct but the 3 inch long vent tube pipe hits the ring gear!!! wt-heck. The guy that took this apart is not around anylonger and i have never worked on a GT 40 SPF MK II before. I know these are the right parts--there the only parts-what am i missing here?

Yes, the ring gear should be on the other side of the gearbox to use on a gt40, it is set up for pantera at the moment and then goes to the back of the gearbox.

Well Sheee ott. You guys were spot on. My builder was not to happy with me. Had to swap the ring gear over to the other side--all bolts up nice now except for the 1-2 3-4 5-r shift cable-not sure how this previous owner had it mounted--none of the bolt holes line up and he has a bunch of strange brackets and pullys so i have more puzzle to figure out.

I believe that your transaxle is setup for pantera orientation, your diff needs to be flipped. Otherwise you will have 1 gear forward and 5 reverse.
Someone else should confirm this
Yip that was it--thanks for your insight. Well im getting better and removing and replacing the trans!!!
