Had my zf RBT 5DS 2/201 in my SPF GT 40 P2116 - just had trans overhauled - and when i got it i could shift it manually thru all the gears-- when i started it up it was in reverse. I can shift it into all the other gears but it will not come out of reverse. Only thing i did was a lot of manual shifting of linkage to get it all adjusted properly. Any idea what the hell i did to it. When i got the box it was in neutral. Already had to pull it out once because we put the ring gear on the wrong side--on side for a Pantera --argg.

Yes it does shift thru all the gears. I even shifted into 1st gear, started it with the clutch in--when i let the clutch out--it stalled the engine becuase it was in 2 gears.

It is likely that the reverse idler gear is engaged. Hopefully the detent spring was not ,accidentally left out.

Yes i can shift it in and out of gear--in and out of reverse - not sure what happened--pulled it back out for the 3rd time and back to my builder. Stay tuned. Boy is this getting old!! --like me.Once i found out what i did or he did i will post it up. Hey Ron i got a quick question for you - installing the axle bolts to flanges--do yo uuse lock tight? Lock washers?
