Can regular car wax be used as mold release? I usually use duct tape. Or aluminum tape when I want my fiberglass to pop off of some. Just wondering if applying a little wax will make things easier and reusable (if needed).
Yes, a carnauba wax can be used as a mold release. Apply several coats. I often apply 3 or 4 coats before applying a film release agent. Also dry release sprays like molykote 557 or even non-stick cooking spray can be used.
Yes wax alone will work. It can sometimes work flawlessly, other times be a PITA to get off. Smooth glossy surface, and many coats of wax will ensure it to be easier to remove.
