Scotland Tornado

Brett,

Thanks for the offer, but I need to order a couple of things from Toolstation anyway, so I might as well add that to the order too. Having my own bottle may also come in handy later if any future leaks materialise.

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian, Dont use PTFE we buy it 2000 rolls at at time for air only and it is not suitable for oil lines it will break down.
Use Locktight thread sealant with a copper washer, just done all my brakes and clutch with NO leaks

Front loom fitted and tested.

Hi Ian,
Congratulations, it a very psychological thing when something actually works! I know I did a whoop of joy (mentally of course!) when I got my interior lights to work!
Keep up the good work
Andy

Connected up the dash loom this weekened. Also extended it for the A/C, for the wing mirrors, the courtesy light, a 20Amp socket, and for a clock and sound system that I'll install after the IVA.

Hi Ian,
You must be in the wife's good books to be building the dash on the dining table!

I ended up fitting 2 aux sockets, one on the drivers side for the SatNav & one passenger side for phone charging etc

Regards
Andy

Have you guys fitted the cigarette lighter type or some USB sockets? I was thinking of fitting some USB sockets to be discrete. But this obviously limits their usefulness.

Dash fitted back in place and the complete car wiring is now fully tested and installed with the exception of one final wire for the A/C thermostat to the trinary. I also connected the dash vents and temporarily conected the blower motor to a battery to check its function; all works well and the motor is pretty fierce so hopefully no windscreen misting. Spent the weekend under the dash connecting the loom and extending it for few other 'bits' I'm adding, dont wont to do that again in a hurry! Lots of little bits and pieces to tidy up now and then all I'm left with is the engine and gearbox installation.

I remember only too well the spagetti of wires.
It makes you think why they made everything so compact especially around the engine area.
Maybe it should be a little longer and taller " GT43 "

I don't know if your A/C unit and wiring is the same as mine but you should have a relay that pulls the fans on when the A/C requires it, triggered by the Trinary switch.
Mine did not come with this relay etc.

Looking good though mate, wont be long

Ian, Just a thought, I was talking to SGT and one thing the IVA were pulling up down there way was the 2.5mm radius around all the fibreglass panels.
worth checking them out maybe.

Made up a gear surround out of 5mm thick aluminium plate. I'll fit it to the car this weekend, then will send it off to be chromed.

Waiting for my new engine to be delivered; I'm having a Ford 347 built for me with Weber IDA's. Meanwhile, had a local engraver make up some dash tags for me; I'm pleased with the final result.

Hi Ian,
Those front and side indicators are same as mine but they are not ok for IVA .
Also something to watch out for ,if IVA see holes where the Perspex is they will assume something goes there and it will need to be e marked. I filled all those holes back in and it was presented without Perspex ,same for side Perspex . Don't waste time, do them after IVA .lastly I recognise that rear wing its from e bay as mine was, good value as well at £85 ish
That 9 hole grill will need to be blanked off as well

Indicators and light covers are fine for IVA.
Mesh in the gulf vents is also fine.
Reverse and Fog lights may need moving.
Spoiler will be an issue.

Thanks

Andy

Keith, yes the spoiler was from eBay 80 quid delivered, very well made but had to cut out the two centre slots as only 6 were included. As Andy says I have mesh under the 9 slot grill so it should be ok for the IVA. By way......your car looks fantastic.
Andy, I intended to leave off the metal spoiler for the IVA. If the rear fog and reverse need moving, I will leave it to you to move if needed when you get the car.
Ian
