Hi everyone

So I've not a lot to show here yet, but thought I would start my build log. Picked up my chassis #66 last week, I have most of the panel set, just waiting for a few other bits and I have loads of other stuff on order, but until they arrive I thought I'd get a start on the floor pan today. Flipped the chassis over (used a towel to protect the roll bar and some other cloths as we turned it) and managed to drill all the 4mm holes for the floor pan and centre tunnel, used adhesive sealant then aligned the base once more and riveted it down. Riveted them all by hand, as I don't have an air riveter YET ... but I will be getting one for the rest! (another thing on order) oh my shoulders are feeling it a little now!

Thinking about adding a further protective coat of paint to the bottom panel before I flip it back over, not sure if its worth doing or if anyone else has, but got interrupted by the dogs so thought that would be a good place to stop for today. Slow start, but I have started

Nice work. You must have strong hands to pull all those rivets without an air riveter! I suggest you give your aluminum panels a coat of two-part zinc chromate epoxy primer before you rivet them on.
I had two wolf hybrids, I can't imaging how you deal with seven Huskies.

That's a whole sled pack there my daughter would die for a Huskie like those!! Looking good, I would look to get a set of these I got mine from Paul Bav when he got his build rolling, I think he got them from Mick they make life sooooooo much easier. You can roll the chassis around with ease, not quite sure how I am going to get mine off them now though I think some tall axle stands and the engine crane to lift it onto those then down each end bit by bit
Oh and Cleco's you will need a lot, floor is fine but don't rivet the upper panels until you are sure you don't need to get behind them I took quite a few back off !!

I used one of these cheap $15 drill rivet guns to get all my rivets in the GT. Only for the small narrow spots I used the hand riveting gun.
Turn right pops the rivet, turn left and the remains fall out.
Easy on the rpm and it lasts forever.

Thanks Neil, the hands feel a little sore this morning but not to bad actually. I'm weirdly now considering leaving the air riveter and saving the money towards another part of the car but I'm undecided yet.

The dogs are good as gold, most of the time, they have a set routine, we work them (race in the winter) and they get lots of training etc or they did, its easier once they are settled and are always better in a pack. We have no.8 coming in a few weeks! puppy days all over again, people think we mad ...

Thanks Sean the pack keep us busy at times but wouldn't have em any other way. I've got a load of Cleco's now for the side panels etc, I've been reading and studying so many builds its great to see what's helpful. I'll have a think about the stands, at the moment I'm planning on just keeping it all on axel stands I already have but do like the idea of being able to move it around as well.
