Heathkit R/C GT40

I just found that in 1970, Heathkit came out with a 1/8 scale GT40 RC car. It was the first successful R/C car. It had a small gas/petrol engine in back (mid-engine like the original, but transverse mounted). It's the Heathkit Spectre GD-101. According to the ad, it has a top speed of 25 mph. The price for the car was $50. The engine was $30 and if you needed the electronics, it was another $130. R/C planes were common then, so it's possible that someone might already have the engine and electronics.

Here's an article about the R/C car with some photos and history.

That is cool. Always liked Heathkit. Built many ham radios and a color TV in the late sixties. Then build a couple of furniture items when they move out of the electronics business. Good stuff.
