I know this subject has been discussed a few times on this forum, but most of those posts were some time ago. If you guys don't mind, could I re-start this discussion.
Rather than fitting an A/C compressor on the side of the engine and driving it from the crankshaft pulley, I am looking at fitting the car with an electrically driven A/C compressor.

Anyway, has anyone taken this route themselves? Do you have any electric compressors you could recommend? There must be plenty of 2nd hand units from EVs. There are also new units available. Here is an example. And another

Pros:
I could locate it at the front of the vehicle.
Refrigerant lines would be much shorter; they don't have to run the length of the car.
Cons:
Draws a lot of current; circa 90A at full chat.
Needs a big alternator - I'm planning to install 200A+ unit anyway as I have an electric water pump.
