Harness Installation RCR40

Hoping for some guidance for harness installation in an RCR40. I have seen eye bolts welded to roll bar cross bars and loops around the cross bar.

I am moving the rear hoop behind the FW, but thinking to keep the crossbar in front of the FW so I can use the loop method.

Randy, on the top bar of the roll cage, no need to put eye bolt, most of the racing cars use harness that are rolled around the bar, like the picture.
This comply to FIA rules. But you need eyelets on the bottom

Whatever you do, please don't use what appear to be the lap harness anchors in the mono. They will put the lap belt across your abdomen and other squishy bits. The lap belt needs to go through the floor and traverse your pelvis (iliac crest) for the "safest" restraint.

Loops around the cross bar would get my vote. It's what I did...

Chris, thx for the guidance. I plan to put in a five point harness so will have to modify the seat and install a floor anchor. Good to know that the provided tub anchor points are too far back. I am thinking to put mounting blocks on the sponson and spine walls. No problem for the DS, but precious little space on the PS. Fortunately, I won’t be competing for space with the parking brake mount since I plan to use linear actuators. Cheers, Randy

Another question: how much clearance do I need between the bulkhead and crossbar to slip the belt through?
I would like to mount the crossbar as close as possible to the bulkhead and still be able to pass the typical belt through. The current gap is 5/8” which seems to be much more than necessary. I am thinking 3/16”. I am trying to get the roll bar crossbar as far away from humans as possible.
