6061 T6 Aluminum Torque Specs - Cheat Sheet

Fran, good to hear from you. Presume you are doing well and getting ready for the holidays.

I am taking the purchase agreement paragraph 1.D. to heart. It basically says that as the buyer I am responsible to disassemble and reassemble the vehicle as it was only put together for transport. I see the frame is 6061 but not certain about suspension CNC's components. So to ensure all bolts are properly torqued and secured, I do not want to over torque aluminum. Just can not find the right spec to compliant with the clause.

Thanks
Dan

threaded holes into frame - hand tight with a nut driver

for all the bolts i just torqued to grade 5 specs and used stovers (metal locking nuts)

if you're tightening something through aluminum, like where the rollcage meets the dash, make sure there's a backing plate on each side of it to distrubute the load, otherwise crushy-crushy will happen

Alex Thanks

I know this may stir the pot again, but for items I'm securing to the frame I am going via Rivnuts (we use them on aircraft a lot). Fully agree for anything going thru the frame to use backing plates.

What I am trying to find are the specs for the suspension components themselves, steel bolts into the threaded CNC stuff. Just want to double check it all.

Thanks
