And so it begins...the AP build.

Things starting to move forward at Prestige.

Another task checked off. The bottom is removable, but the sides of the radiator support will be riveted on after the new frame is painted. In the end, I think I’ll end up refinishing the whole frame in satin black. The close out that was shipped with the frame wasn’t installed square. I’m thinking about getting a 4x8 sheet of 1/8” aluminum and redoing the cockpit floor and extending it rearward to extend along each side of the motor.

Cardboard mock up for headlights provided by AP. I saw in someone else’s tread that 3/8” from the bottom and 1/2” from the side is what to look for.

Nice one Joe. Most places want $1000.00 plus for a starter for a Ricardo. I’m glad I bought 3 of them a few years ago. It looks like you did good as well .

This should turn the 347 over. I put the $150 Kennedy was gonna charge for an OEM 4-cylinder starter towards this. View attachment 145778
I’ve got an almost identical setup with my 347 & KEP starter. I’m curious how this works for you and how their stock Hilux starter compares once we both get to that point. Good work at sourcing it!

It was mentioned in Buttinz thread when he was trouble with his OEM starter. I have a hard time believing a Toyota 4 cylinder starter will last long turning over a built 8 cylinder.
Amini starter is a DC motor running at high speed but with a gear train to reduce speed and increase torque, It draws far less current, too.

Actually, after the first 2 cylinders compress, load on the starter goes way down. And a V8, after the first 2 cylinders pass the compression stroke, it's easy because there's one going up as one is going down.

I noticed with a twin turbo V12 merc I had, after the first 3 cylinders past DTC, it was like there was no chug chug chug like a 4 cyl has cranking. It just rolled.

Just don't grind on it for 5 continuous minutes if you're out of gas or something.
