Hi Nick,
My finely tuned nostrils have detected the unique odour of Linden Green paint wafting on the breeze so I'm guessing something like these pics. I guess it smells better than Strathaven Green.........

My polished aluminium will not be as good as yours tried to get some of the polish you kindly recommended but here in the UK the cheapest I could find was £56 a pot so went for some cheaper Mothers metal polish

Wow Nick, I get it for about $15 USD here. Another thing I bought off of ebay is an aluminum polishing kit. The kit comes with about 14pcs. of polishing cones / wheels that go on a drill motor. Included in the kit are 3 different polishing rouge sticks that also bring back the finish, this makes it easier for a final polish. Today is mothers day here but I will try later to send a pic of the kit I am talking about.

Hi Dan, thanks I usually use sticks black / brown blue and pink can never seem to find a good polish and a way of keeping the polishing cones from going totally black and not being much use after that.
What sort of drill speed do you use, how do you keep your cones clean, maybe I go to fast with drill speed.

I run the drill pretty fast going for a high polish. You are correct with them going black fast and once they go black they go in the garbage. Because they are not that expensive I bought a few kits to do the job. I think about what kind of car I have the pleasure of working on and the result outweighs the cost. In the end I want what I want lol. Even though I have a very tight budget I always remember that I am bringing back the car to life and not dealing with the cost of the build like you and others are faced with. Down the road you can always go back and fine tune these panels, for now your car being on the road first is the priority in my opinion.
After 4 months I thought it might be prudent to ring the painter to make sure he hadn't put my car on ebay in the hope of making a fast buck. The painter found my reasoning hilarious, I was slightly reassured by this as he was either genuine or if he was lying should take up acting after an Oscar winning performance. Part of me still thought it best to go and check today.
Not much has happened in 4 months, but I was reassured after been taken to a building in Blackpool to meet a helper of the painter who had been working on the front clip. What an Aladdin's cave of a premises, walked upstairs to the second floor to be greeted by to name but a few, a Lotus Cortina MK2 Jag several TVR's a 50's American pick up and the owners immaculate 56 (I think) Chevy, my front and rear clips, and a copy of Octane with an article on GT40's that had been studied to try to get things as authentic as possible, I believe the car is in good hands
