I was checking out a recent article in MM&FF that covered the new Man O War blocks from World Products. They offer crate motors that are pretty good, but the blocks really seem well done. The only negative thing is that they are heavy, but you can get some serious displacement in a small package:
8.2" deck height can go to 375 inches and the 9.5" can go to 470 inches. I've never seen a 8.2" SB go that high, pretty neat. They also offer 8.7" and 9.2" heights.
Also in the same mag is an article on a motor build up with a Ford Racing 8.2" deck block. A very nice build with good components yielded 357 inch motor that make a peak power figure of 751hp at 8400 RPM, while reaching 431hp at 5000 RPM and heading up from there. Used a Super Victor Intake and a Quick Fuel Technology 1050 CFM carb on the motor. I sort of doubt a Weber system would handle this motor!
