I am getting asked about my VIN plates, so I am posting pics of both. The first is the one Superformance gave me after my car was delivered:

This set is from Lynn Miner:

Both were received over 15 years ago.

Hi Lynn, good to hear you are still around for us, this is a bit off topic but I was wondering if the plate for the old kenlowe fan motor is something you can replicate, I know some folks here are looking for them.

Hi Pedro

I think I can get very close to this. It looks to be red paint on aluminum. Probably screen printed.

I would water jet the shape, paint it red and lase off the text.

However, I would need very accurate dimensions and a pix as close to on axis as possible. Any off axis skews the font making it tough to replicate correctly.

Wow!! Lynn good to hear from you. Glad everything is good with you.

Regards Brian
Thanks Brian
I wouldn't say things are good for me but I'm still vertical.
I know some guys have tried to contact me via PM but that only seems to work if I log in to view messages, which I rarely do. It's best to email me directly at [email protected].

I'm in the process of selling my 40. I'm moving from a house with a 7 stall garage with a 5000 Sq ft shop to a house with a single stall garage.

I used a flat bed scanner for photos and documents to scan some coins just for fun came out great. Could not get more straight on axis.

Pedro,
I am curious about this label and wondered which one might be the correct version for a GT40 MkI,
Yonder fan in your picture is not a true GT40 type.
It has a later manufactured short motor casing use on some post 1967 cars like MGBs and the three bolt bracket is home made.
The red label is also the later version with a modified postal address for Kenlowe. (post 1966)
The earlier 1965 label also has "12 Volts" printed on it.

Hi Jimmy,

Actually I got that picture from the web, the label I have is the same as the one on the picture but it is in really bad condition.
Lynn Miner has agreed to look into making some and make available for all of us, so if you have pictures of the earlier version could you please post some so Lynn can reproduce the correct one for the GT40.

Hi Pedro,
I have seen the early versions on quality 1964-5 cars but I have not seen one on a GT40 so far.
The question is when did FAV or JWA fit these fans ?

A couple of earlier versions are shown in my build log and here is one on a 1965 Bristol 409 which had two unit fans factory fitted. Bristol only made seventeen of these cars twixt 1964-66.
I already had about thirty of these early ones made last year.

I will have to say when the first road cars were made 65, 66? Any of our experts know for sure? It will be nice to know.

BTW I think we deviated from the original thread long enough for it is an important subject for some of us and it does has to do with tags, plates etc.
Administrators please feel free to move to a new thread if needed.
