For sale: all the parts needed to upgrade the earlier SL-Cs anemic C4 wheel bearings. If you just built a cruiser than you probably don’t need to upgrade. If you are modifying the car for auto cross, occasional track days, high horsepower or 1/2 mile events than these parts may interest you.

FRONT
1 Dulaney front adapters (pair). These adapters let you mount C6 X Tracker wheel bearings. $450 shipped SOLD
2 New C6 X tracker front wheel bearings with passive sensors (pair). This style of wheel bearing is more expensive than the C7 bearing but its advantage is the built in passive sensor. $600 shipped SOLD

REAR
New C7 X tracker wheel bearings with 33 spline DSS stubshafts (pair) and the necessary .190" spacers. These will require you to modify your rear uprights. There are a couple of builders on this site that may do the modification. $750 shipped

Ken,

Can the Dulaney adapters use standard C7 bearings? If so, I’ll purchase the adapters.

Thanks,

Joel

These adapters only work with the C6 bearings unfortunately. The benefit to using a C6 X Tracker bearing is the fact you can choose between two different models. One has a built in passive sensor while the other has a built in active sensor. Both have a wiring pigtail for easy hook up. The C7 bearing has a built in reluctor wheel but no wiring pigtail. The sensor is external.

If you are adding some kind of traction control, abs system or dynamic stability control then I can sell this extra set of reluctor wheels that mount to a mini 30 spline stub shafts I had made up. This way you can use the C6 bearing with built in passive sensor for a ECM signal or speedo signal and then add the stub shaft for an active signal for traction control.

First picture shows the stubshafts. Second picture shows them installed with an active abs sensor installed. The pigtail on the other side, attached to the bracket is the built in passive sensor coming from the wheel bearing. The third picture shows the abs plastic pipe cap used to keep stones and dirt away.

That is some very nice engineering Ken.

I recently added my speed sensors to the rear axles and was thinking I really don’t need sensors up front. Unless I wanted to do ABS.

If I wanted sensors up front I think it would probably be the active sensor type.

Ok, I’ll get back to you on this.

This is a great addition for a builder who wants to future proof their car. I added it not for just the BMW abs system but for the dynamic stability control.

Hey Ken, are the rear stub shafts the right dimensions for a Graziano without having to get new axles?

which year is the SLC cut off SL-Cs for the anemic C4 wheel bearings? Does anyone which bearing the GT-R comes with and if there is a transition year for them too?

You'd need to ask Fran that question. If I was to guess I'd say around 2020/2021. Post pictures of your uprights on your build log though. I don't want my "for sale" thread cluttered up.

Upgrading wheel bearings or other crucial components, it’s all about finding the right balance between quality and fit. I’ve learned that cutting corners on auto parts can lead to more headaches down the road, especially with performance vehicles.
