Superlite GTA

Coming from the land of the four pots (UK) I really couldn't care for one at all, I don't think I'd even care if you could get 1000bhp and 100mpg out of one I just don't like them.

Five hundred horses is easy-peasy for a 4G. And it'll make pretty solid torque, too. (although, at higher rpm than a v6, but not much)

had to throw this in:

Any 4g63 experts out there.. I have looked at the DSM forums and it seems like there is a lot that goes into getting the 4g63 up to 400-450hp (at the crank) but it is not crazy expensive to do so. Most of the mods go over my head so does anyone have any idea on a ball park cost to get a 4g63 to 400-450 hp from a stock engine?

Trust me, I'm not a "ricer". I'm just following Fran's advice as to which engine to use. The Razor is the first car I've ever owned that has a 4 pot. Since owning one, I've done quite a bit of research on Honda, Mitsubishi, GM LNF, etc. Ask me a year ago and I wouldn't have known anything about them.

Oh, I know. Its just hard to swallow not having a V8. I know you can make power with them so it will be fine. Just need to find an exhaust system that doesn't sound like crap.

found an Eclipse body for $150..... tempting

And here is the problem, you can't they all sound like crap, the ONLY two exceptions to this rule are motorbike inline-4's or Subaru boxer flat-4's with unequal length headers.

Fours just don't sound good, the only semi I've gotten from one was just purely on the induction noise with a good filter but it's not enough.

Did I mention I hate fours? :)

Sorry Ben...thats BS...having spent many hours in the Forests of the UK in the group B rally car days and listened to the turbo 4 cylinder F1 cars of the day....they all sounded bloody marvellous...

The Subaru flat four sounds like its running on 3 1/2 cyclinders...I had a WRX and while is was only 220hp stock it was cracking little car that went very very well but sounded like absolute poop...

Group B rally cars and F1 cars would probably be considered a little extreme I would imagine.

I guess it's all subjective, I think the boxer engine sounds great (with unequal length headers!) and given I've been surrounded by production four pots in various states of tune throughout my years I just don't see it, sorry.

V6 for me thanks! ;)

Noooope sorry, the best sounding induction noise came from a GENUINE EK9 JDM Type-R with the B16B but other than that, not interested.

Like I said, I've lived with four pots most of my life. BORING.

X2 on the Subaru 4 banger sounding like crap.... They all sound like they are running on 3 cylinders...

It's hard to compare the sound of a 4 cyl. and 8 cyl. They will be different. Different isn't ALWAYS bad though. I agree that you can make an 8 cyl. sound better than a 4 cyl., but not all 4 cyl. sound bad.

I had an acquaintance who built up a Porsche 550 Spyder replica with a Subaru boxer engine...he sold it soon as he drove it, could NOT stand the sound....

...that WRX motor is a winner, IMHO....but, then, so is the Mitsu 4....mine was the stock non-turbo model, sounded like a Singer sewing machine for the most part, but it was OK for what it was!

Cheers!

Doug!
