SPF Tool Room Chassis plate location

Can anyone tell me where the chassis ID plate is located on the SPF tool room cars? It’s not in the normal location as found on non-tool room cars. Or does it even have a standard SPF chassis ID tag?

Thanks,
James

James, the riveted tag is on left back side of cockpit above fuel swirlpot location. Then stamped ones are on both sides under bonnet.

James, check out my build thread. Tool room minus Gurling brakes and AC added. Gurney Westlake engine with Webbers. Slide door handles. Wide body right hand drive. Gelscoe sand bent bundle of snakes. Here's a picture of swirl tank.

Mine is an as built tool room chassis. No A/C, cooling fans, speedometer, etc. Mine does not have a swirlpot.

I building mine with Gurney 3-valve heads and slide valve injection and I also have the stock Gurney 2-valve heads with Weber’s.

Swirl pot is hand made and not part of the order. It is a must when tracking the car because the fuel slosh forward on hard braking and pumps will loose prime.

James everything I see on the toolroom has the large 50th plate riveted to the left side on the cover for fuel tank access. They did not give up any pictures of chassis number. You should have received it in the mail after your car arrived. Have you started a build thread? I have a picture showing the plate location on my phone I will add. I would technically call mine a 50th Anniversary car as I added AC as I live in Florida and plan on driving the car. Also the fuel pumps in this picture of their Toolroom car are not correct.

David,

Yeah I did get that plate. I’ve been told that’s the only chassis plate on the tool room cars. I was just making sure I wasn’t missing the other plate that’s used on the non-tool room cars.

James in the picture with the wrong pumps you can see the small riveted tag on the outer edge of the top of the rocker sill. It looks like the large flat plate they used to mount the pumps would cover the plate and you don't see the Superformance plate on the left side as mine has. I also received the larger Toolroom plate with my car and also say 50th edition . I think Superformance will call it what ever you want to call it for the right price..

I posed this question about the chassis plate because when it’s time for me to register my chassis, I don’t want the DMV to have an issue with the chassis plate that’s riveted to the fiberglass rocker panel. Chassis/VIN plates must be part of the chassis itself. I don’t know why the 50th anniversary plates weren’t installed at the factory or a chassis plate like all the other non-tool room cars wasn’t used but attached in a different location since the original Stewart Warner pumps would be in the way.

I'm now curious, does anyone have any idea how many full Tool Room spec cars have been completed? I believe they were supposed to be limited to 50 cars being produced....unless that has changed...?

(I realize they now offer Tool room body features, chassis number etc, if you wish to add them to a standard Superformance GT40 order).

When I received my car (not full Tool Room car but 50th Anniversary car)and the headers were not for a Gurney eagle headed engine I was told they had 22 more to build and they don't know how I came up with the engine but could not supply the headers to bolt to a Gurney engine. Just like the fuel pumps I think they over promised authentic build Tool Room cars and can't fill the orders.

They’re only making 50 cars total for the 50th Anniversary/Tool Room cars. I was told most of the 50 were tool room but don’t have the exact numbers of each that make up the total of 50. My tool room will run a slide valve injected Gurney 3-valve engine. Headers will have to be custom made.
