Second throttle cable

Short of having a spare cable and doing a roadside repair on a broken throttle cable, any thoughts on a second cable running thru the firewall/bulkhead to the carb via a hand operated pull knob? Was thinking about using an aircraft throttle setting unit that would hold the rpm high enough to get home. Maybe over thinking stuff?

Not sure of your over cautious concern. I have only had one throttle cable issue in all my years (40+) of flying, driving, boating, cycling and anything with a motor. That one was on my first Cobra replica shortly after getting it on the road and the routing got too close to the hot headers. A redo of the routing and a new cable and no other issues. Only other issue was some binding from lack of use and lube solved those issues on older equipment. However my experience, you do you and make it a non-issue and install as you see fit for your peace of mind if it concerns you. I don’t know if you were thinking of it as a quick hook up after a problem or finding a way to make them work in tandem continuously?

Was thinking of a permanent install in the bulkhead, only hooked to the carb throttle if needed . I read on the forum that a few had problems and some carry another cable as back up.

GT40s have a very long cable and when Borla 8 stack is used you have a very heavy throttle.
I also have concerns of cable issues.
My head is working on some sort of assist system that will take some of the load off the right foot and cable.

Ideas welcome !!

I just keep a second inner cable in the car and a few solderless nipples. It's the inner that breaks. pull the broken one out and feed the new inner cable through and put a couple of solderless screw clamped nipples on each end.
Cheers
Mike
