Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

I tried 3 different sets of floor mats before I found a set that i liked , first a rubber one with ribs, then a carpet one , finally found the prefect one , is attached to the carpeting with velcro, it is a high traffic floor mat form home depot, cut to fit perfectly

It was a pain connecting the trickle charger to the battery terminals , plus I had to open the rear clam . Solution: a fixed outdoor plug with plastic cover connected to the side terminals of the optima battery. the plug is easily accessible at the bottom of the spider, Works perfectly

When I was driving around I noticed that the a/c was no longer cooling properly , I recharged it , and blew a large leak , I thought it was one of my crimps that failed, but when I was installing the new hose I discovered a pinched and broken O ring , darn!!! And of course it was the hose with the trinary switch as well , Murphys law, and the most difficult to access inside the footbox.

Well I found out that vintage air offers free crimping for local customers , the new hose is really nice . I also found out that you have to replace the dryer as well .

I am not exaggerating, it took me two weeks to install the new hose inside the passenger foot box, upside down and with one hand only. Both shoulders would not fit at the same time . That was brutal , Also had to cut a wrench to make it fit .

Well, my a/c blows super cold air just in time for spring , yeah!!!

I installed rpm sensors for the traction control unit on each rear tire , I used the half shaft heat shields as the mounting surface and the back of the drive shaft mounting bolts as the triggers

It was time to install the windshield . Decided to let the pros do it, only charged me $125. Totally worth it . The owner ended up doing it , super cool guy who loves cars

added a cup holder and an arm rest that has a storage area as well, attached them to the side impact bars using the plastic rod I had leftover from the dashboard spacer . Turned out very nice and very practical . It is as practical as you can get for an slc :-)
Of course I made a food run to Rosas to test the cup holders .

Looks good Hector! From your pic of the finishing touches above I can see that you spent A LOT of time getting your paintjob just right after the fact. The rear clam is shining like a mirror. Nice job!!

Thanks Kurt. Definitely not perfect, there are a few trouble spots , It would have been much easier to start with a decent paint job :-) but it was cheap, got what I paid for . with 2 kids in private schools, I have more time than money

I am going to a car show with Mark B in Austin Saturday, we will be representing the SLC team !!! My first road trip .

Just for schitts and giggles I am going to stop by the Lamborghini dealership Friday afternoon in the SLC to tell them I want a milder, slower , less scary car and see what they say . :-) it should be funny , will see if they have a sense of humor .
