Replacement steering rack boots

Steering rack is one of the original Maval racks used from back in ~2008-2010.

The boots on it are starting to show signs of cracking and will likely tear in the next few years.

Contacted RCR but they don't stock replacement boots. They gave me the part number so I contacted Maval and they said no parts available. If your steering rack dies no rebuilds available. No advice on boots that could be close to what they. Made some weird comment that Maval doesn't support Maval products. Weiiiird vibe from them.

Surely somebody has replaced their boots before ... has anybody found a boot that fits the rack close enough?

The strange thing is, I take that part number which Summit says is the manufacturers part number but it doesn't show up on Unisteers site. They only show one boot kit from what I see and no dimensions listed.

Alex,

Not sure if these will work, but they fit the Unisteer Rack that I have. My car was delivered in 2019.

visually that looks similar - 3 large bellows and then a bunch of smaller ones .... if nobody has ever replaced their boots before this might just end up being a guess-and-buy-and-see type thing

Murray from Australia ordered these and I believe they fit, but not sure if he has the identical rack you have or I have.

Correct - I ordered part number that Joel supplied - They work just fine

After closer inspection I found several small tears in multiple bellows ... my car's not high mileage (~3,000 miles since 2008) so if you have an original Maval rack you might want to check yours.

The part above - Unisteer 620270 - fits close enough ... it's about one and a half bellows longer than the original so the inner bellow sometimes bunches up against the zip tie holding it on the rack ... might cause wear in the bellow over time but i suppose it's no worse wear than the bellows rubbing against themselves as you turn the rack

Alex, the dune buggy crowd sprays a dry lube on the CV boots. Maybe applying this to the steering rack will help avoid tears. I have a can of this and sprayed my CV boots so going to apply it to the steering rack boots..
