If visions of that 47 won't leave your mind, there are always the guys at Banks Europa in the UK, ....still building NEW Europa variants with better chassis and suspensions.
I always felt the 47 was the way the 46 and 54 [ street versions with Renault power] should have been offered...In the day there were no EPA or DOT restrictions and Cosworth powered street car was not out of the question. Later the TC Europa with 4 or 5 speed, came closer, but with limited access to the Weber heads in the USA, and heavier revised body, it fell short of the mark by quite a ways, even if you did the wide wheels, revised suspension, and flares. The 47 was indeed the way the Europa should have remained, and been marketed. I still pine for a 47, but when the economy improves, I will temper those pangs for the past with an RCR.
Just found some interesting rim sections for my Speedline 18 inch rims on the rear of my C5 Vette....replacement sections for intneded for Ferrari F-40 fitment, alternate size 18 inchers, inner sections, aparently last 2 spares in the USA... I can add the 2 inches or so I want to my rears without cut and welding in a hoop. I'll finally have almost 12 inches bead to bead, for the wider tires I want to run.
The importer tells me Speedline has given up manufacturing the 3 piece modular wheels.
I wonder where Fran is buying rim sections for his 'in house' wheel centers? I suppose something like that is 'next' for me, a Lola T-330 style hub center and/or the Ferrari center like Fran is already making, but with modern size, 3 piece construction for contempary tires suitable for the Vette.
When we do the RCR P4, wheels and tires will be a big issue, I will want the right look both for track day setup with proper slicks and internediates from G-Y or Hoosier, and also a good street setup on wide DOT dummies. This will mean 15 inch diameter for the race tres, and 17 and/or 18s for the street...
Back in the 70s I would collect the 3/4 used up Goodyear slicks from around the pits, and use them on my Lotus on the street...Sure, sometimes the remaining life would be measured in fractions of an hour, but it was really fun to be such a Pirate and break all the rules with G-19s on the street. Ahh, to be that young again! Sure pulled some great Gs for the day!..I could out corner ANYTHING else on the street in our town
