Door handles

Does anyone have pics of the way their handles are attached to the latch in the RCR40? and also is a spring needed to keep handle back after open?

Steve, the pics in my build log should help as my doors are RCR and am using the mini bear claw latches. It was a debate in my mind whether to mount the latch inside the door or on the outside of the rear face. My debate was settled by the close proximity of the latch to the spider flange and seal if it were mounted on the surface and mounting inside the pocket was preferred to making all those connections easier and less complicated.

To answer your question, yes I would think almost all folks are using some type of return spring as the latch itself doesn’t provide any features to enable this.

The inner handle bolts on the mechanism directly and the outer one has a cable that does the pulling. The 2 springs return those inner/outer handles respectively

Can you help us find the handle/latch/bear claw data within your build log. I've searched thru it and the forum and can't find any pictures on how you did your handles.

Paul, sorry…I thought I had posted about this some time ago but will go back and see or add it in the next couple updates if not. Here is a couple pics that I did find in my files. Unfortunately I don’t have the exact one with the spring but drew it into the position that I found will work on my handles to retract it into place. As you can imagine each spring rate and length/strength will vary on how it “snaps” back into place. I have added door lock tumblers since this pic to prevent the outside handle from actuating and will be working the opener/release mechanism from the inside. Two choices 1) release tab at the top, like SPR replicas 2) have a release cable pull, like a classic mini cooper

Thank you. Where did you get your hardware for the for lever top of door?
I think the handle that pops through the door top is available in some form through a GT vendor.

I made all of my own parts for the doors though.
