How much fluid goes into RBT 5DS/201 ZF in my SPF GT 40 MK II

Just had it overhauled-i removed the plug on the passenger side of trans about half way down. Added 4 quarts and it still wants more--maybe another quart. I put in good GL-4 80w-90 weight oil non synthetic so the syncros stay happy but everything i read says 2.5 to 3 quarts.Im already at 4 quarts and its still low

Ok i just read in one of the posts if its a complete overhaul and you have a side tank to fill also--it should take about 6 quarts--do any of you guys know if this is the case?

Do not use the side plug as your fill indication. 6 quarts is WAY too much ! 2.5 to 3 quarts is correct. I'm confused as to your trans orientation. In previous posts there was discussion whether your ZF was in Pantera orientation or GT40. In GT40 orientation you should be filling thru the top plate. When you pour in 2.5 liters ( 2.65 quarts) use a plastic dipstick to measure level and mark stick for future reference.

The original ZF in the Pantera flipped for use in my GT uses a nearly 3 quarts per Ron McCall. I can only assume the RBT is the same. In the Pantera orientation, it takes about 3.5 quarts. You fill through the vent hole in the top plate and you should have a small side hole near the bottom of the passenger side of the case to check if full. (NOT the large 17mm hole up near the top). You do not fill from the side.
