New build, cost is high, options are?

Hi All,
New to the forum and looking to start my first GT40 build. I live in Melbourne, Australia. I’m more a hot rod guy than purist. Preference is mk2 body, gulf. Lots of pros and cons from the research I’ve done which is leading to over thinking. So the age old question which is the best kit for me? I have no problem putting in the elbow grease and skills to get the job done. There’s bang for buck and not taking 20 years to screw together. Driveline is not set but was thinking Coyote or LS motor. Trans open to ideas. So far Tornado and AP are standing out. Problem I’m seeing is the mk2 body. Without melting minds what are peoples thoughts?

As far as I am aware Australia has a stipulation regarding torsional chassis stiffness. If I remember correctly the figure is 6000 ft.lbs/degree. Check that what you go for will meet Australian regulations before you spend any money.
Cheers

David,
There are a number of RCR GT40s in Australia. Here's a couple builds: - I've linked the name to the build site.

They may be able to help you with some of the governmental regulations. Jason is located in Melbourne

Welcome to the madness.

Welcome David,
The Mk2 was never owned or raced by Gulf, may affect your colour choice ?
Period Ford V8 or Ford Coyote engine surely.

As Stephen mentioned, Ford never had a MKII in Gulf livery.

Somebody did do a Gulf inspired MK2 (Guess someone ordered it at Superperformance and its now for sale at Illinois Motors).

A MKII in Gulf livery is not everybody's taste, for sure not mine, but thats my "personal" opinion.

Weren't AK SPorts Cars looking at providing a Coyote installation in to their cars? Saves reinventing the wheel if they are!

We have a Coyote engine option and also a MK2 body option along with Space frame or Aluminium Monocoque and Carbon Fibre Monocoque chassis options available.
Thanks
Andy

Hey Stephen, I was referring more to the gulf rear arches and single front vent. I do like the Gulf livery but colour scheme is a bit of a distant thought at the min. Trying to get the basics of kit, driveline and body decided first.
