Ford engine G96 gearbox

Need help! Building a RCR gt40. was going to mount the G96 transaxel to the Ford 289 engine today. But the adapter between the gearbox. And the engine hits the ring gear. The adapter hits the gear ring 3,5 mm before its flush with the engine.
Gearbox, adapter clutch ring gear, all delivered from RCR.

Just guessing... any possibility the ring gear front/back are reversed (facing the "wrong side up") ?

Seems like it will hit the engine block if reversed
