Authentic parts?

As I start my assembly process on the RCR I was wondering what parts I should change from the kit for a more authentic looking MKI? Going for a P1075 clone so looking for any and all guidance. Thanks!

Hartwell Latches is the most obvious deficiency from the standard ones that come with the car. Check with RCR on their knock-offs ..

Its going to be a case of lots and lots of small incremental changes. You are going to need to start making a photo catalog of all the different angles of P1075.

off the top of my head,

Gauge on port side, side sill.
cross over fuel system
internal radiator spline cover with extra bulge to clear the crossover system
B52 bomber marker light in starboard side rear arch
wider wheels
different wheel spinners
wider arches front and rear
clear Perspex wind deflector on front bodywork in front of screen
Marchal lower spotlights
Gurney Weslake heads and slanted intakes
rear lower diffuser panel with oil coolers
fire extinguisher nozels above rear window on engine bay side
Stewart Warner fuel pumps, think there was 3
1075 style steering wheel
gauges to match 1075
side marker lights
proper parachute style seats with rivets.

not sure what wiper mechanism they used.
I also think that the front radiator area and the support structure could be improved.
1075 had a single deep nostril panel as well I think.

Hows that for a starting point.

P1074 had a blue marker light in the center of the front radiator opening. Not sure if this is a Lucas product or not. It looks similar in shape to some of the Lucas rear lights/indicators.

You would need to check, but P1075 may have had a red marker/identification light in in the same spot. Think the colors would match the B52 identification light on the rear wheel arch.

There are also possibly changes between 68 and 69 that some others will also be able to tell you about. Race cars changed race by race. I know that GT103 even used different fonts for its #11 race number, so you may need to match that level of detail to a particular race.

The circuit breaker on the LHS of the rear clam is a nice detail aswell.
If you go into youtube there is a videoinspection of 1075 that adam (llamabite) has posted.

The I.D. lamp in the right rear clam is a UK Spitfire/Hurricane I.D. lamp, not a B52 piece.

Great info!!! I have the book Autobiography of 1075. I’ve been looking for plans or a book that lists part numbers of these items to make searching for them a little easier??? I’ve found this the hardest part is tracking down part numbers for these items as I’m not familiar with a lot of them. Even searching for Hartwell latches has been a challenge because I never knew they made so many styles and I can’t find the exact part/model.

Some of the items I have already and others I need to get. Since it’s a clone and 99% of people couldn’t tell the difference I’ll most likely use replica pieces or items ‘close enough’ to replicate the same appearance. Some items may not even be used but just mounted to appear operational (like the Stewart Warner fuel pumps, etc). No need to use 55 year old tech when I can install modern and try to hide them out of view. Also I’m not going to get 100% identical but close enough. For my engine from Prestige I’m going to use Gurney Weslake valve covers on the AFR heads, although I’ve seen on here that some modification may be needed. Things like that get me close for a quick eyeball but an enthuisist can easily see the differences.

My cobra is red/white so 1083 would be more red/white. Need some contrast in the garage.

Thanks for all the help!! Keep the suggestions coming!

Is this one of the three lights on the Mosquito?

Apologies all for my mix up on the aircraft ID marker lights. I had the other plane in my memory banks for some reason. War Birds are not a specialty of mine, but I do love the engineering, details and stories that come from them.

P1084 can be seen here.

Some more links to consider.

I’m a little confused but are these lights the front side marker lights? What color goes on which side? Hard to see in all the pictures I have.

Also I see a bubble on each door and one on the pas side rear tail. What are these?
