RCR 2nd Bulkhead ? ? ?

At the recent GT40 Renunion, Colton's green RCR Mk1 incorporated a second bulkhead or 'wing' to enclose & mount some of the hardware. His build dates back to before 2010 and included a rear mounted rollbar as was supplied then. They then filled outboard of it with a sheetmetal panel.

This approach has been used by many, I think Chuck and Ryan made it popular in their build. It makes for a clean engine area and room to hide parts of the build in the structure (Electronics & door strike supports).

I would like to learn more about this, but I have struggled with some of the history. I have determined it goes back to the 2008/9 time frame. I am unable to find any additional details on it. The site search engine isn't the strongest and is very specific to terminology. I've searched 'wing' and 'second bulkhead' but not finding a lot of discussion on this. I did find Rick Mertz' build which has some comments on it but he and Chuck both refer back to earlier builders which I have not been able to identify.

To any of the RCR builders or historians, do you have any links or connections that I can learn more about this feature

On my RCR build we just fabricated extra bulkhead panels to attach to the RCR supplied standard single skin bulkhead. I am noy sure if RCR ever provided this sort of option or if it was just done as additions by individual builders. My car was delivered in 2007 and image is from later that year.

Very interesting approach. Was yours done in sheet metal or fiberglass?

Some of the approaches I've seen appear to be a formed wall. Curious how it was mounted and what the internal arrangements were

Looks great. Does the crossbar interfere with the distributor?
