Exhaust question

While waiting for my clutch package I’m looking for my exhaust package. I have an RCR GT40, Dart 302 block, AFR heads, ZF trans. I’ve been looking around at ordering a bundle of snakes and collector from either RCR or GP or perhaps somewhere else. Looking for suggestions or recommendations? My other question is what, if any, is everyone doing for mufflers? Do mufflers fit in the RCR and not bubble the paint?

I used GP and was very pleased with their product and service. Used MagnaFlow mufflers which were ceramic coated to keep the heat down.

Looks great!! Did you go SS with the ceramic coating? How difficult was it using their builders kit? I’ve never used a mock up kit before but have assembled exhaust systems before but never a bundle of snakes! Do you remember what model and where you got those mufflers? How’s the sound and restriction? I don’t want to cut off too much power from my engine. I have magnaflows on other cars and love the sound and performance with them.

I have a brand new set of 302 SPF with bullet mufflers that have never been bolted up. I have a Gurney head engine so I had to go with Gelscoe set. I will list them if interested? I'm told the SPF ones are very nice design compared to others?

Yes, all stainless. They already have a pattern from a prior build so they can make them easily. The mufflers were supplied by GP. Sound is good, restriction is minimal. Video here.

I spoke to them the other day because I was hoping they had done a few RCR cars already and would have a pattern on stock but whoever I talked to told me I would have to get the builders kit and mock it up myself and send it back to them.

They do have a pattern and did not require a mockup from me. Call and see if you can speak with Zach. They have done several RCR with SBF and ZF/RBT. They built my headers and then I sent them the mockup for the tail pipes and mufflers.

David, I might be interested. I have pipes from RCR. I am concerned that they may not play well with the rear clip. I think it is pipe D3 that goes up and over. I also need mufflers. I’ll be at the reunion next weekend. Cheers, Randy
