AC v-belt pulley

I just finished installing the single groove v-belt system from CVF on my 302 block and plate for remote water pump. I pulled out the RCR AC parts and have the Sanden SD7 compressor but it has a serpentine pulley on it. Does anyone know the part for a v-belt pulley set up to swap on this? I don’t know if I’d need a single or double but I assume double? I’ve searched CVF and other sites for pulleys and haven’t found anything yet. Surprised they didn’t come with a v-belt pulley to begin with.

Also found just one bracket for the AC from RCR and trying to think how to make it work. I’ve read here people have flipped them so it would hang under the bracket? Pictures would be great if anyone has them. Slow progress but sort of expected lots of challenges.

Thanks again!

Always a monkey wrench thrown in somewhere on these things. My Sanden came with a double v-belt pulley, but I'm only using one of the grooves. Maybe contact either RCR or Sanden directly to swap out? I did use the RCR bracket which initially did not come with my kit. It mounts the compressor low on the engine opposite the alternator.

Thanks for the picture! Did you use a spreader bar attached to the back of the AC compressor instead of the lower mounting holes or just caught the rear mounting hole?

Also I called Vintage Air and they told me to ship it back and they can exchange it for one with a v-pulley. Hopefully o can get that turned around quickly.

Well at least you have an AC to work with. I received my car from RCR in May. Still no word on the AC, steering rack, and axles.

Randy, I feel the pain. It took a few months after receiving my car to get the remainder of the components, most of which were shipped to me directly from the supplier. Believe me though, it's worth the wait. It's worth the wait!

Pat, I fabricated an adjustment arm out of some steel stock, bolted it to the block and to the lower compressor mount. Sorry I don't have a picture of that adjuster. There's a lot going on in that area and not much room to get at things. Shim/shave where you have to, but making sure you have ALL your pulleys perfectly aligned will make for a much happier v-belt system.

I understand and appreciate your time and help. I’m trying to get the front accessories mocked up and straight before even thinking of putting the engine in. I see how tight everything is and still won’t realize until i start putting it in there. Praying I can get lucky by looking at everyone’s photos to maybe get it right the first time but that never happens! I need to make a separate post to see if there’s someone close to lower NY/tri state with an RCR so I can look at it up close done or near done.

Pat,
You're definitely going to have to do something with that Oil Filter sticking out the side of the engine block on your RCR40. I tried everything I could think of to keep it there, shorter filter, 90 degree adapter, etc., but nothing fit in there along with everything else. I also didn't want to cut a big hole in the chassis, so I finally went remote.

Thanks, I didn’t even think about the filter hitting. I’ll work on a remote setup and figure out where to locate the filter once the engine is in. Trying to lock it up like p1075 but with modern upgrades so I’ve been thinking about locations for catch cans and swirl pot, have to add oil filter to the list.

I spoke with Fran this morning. The Vintage Air kits for RCR40s are supposed to come with a v-belt pulley. Some sort of miscommunication going on. Fran said he is going to call VA and get it sorted out.

Thanks! VA seemed very helpful although I did have to pay to ship he wrong one back, I hope they are able to replace it and send me the correct one.

Because Fran called this morning, I think you will be ok. I would give VA another call to see if they will pay back the shipping since it seems the fault was their’s.
