As I impatiently wait for my RCR GT40 to be built, I am trying to address some of the items that will come up during the build. One of those is the Hartwell-style latch used on the front and rear clips. To those who are in process or even completed, can you help me with some dimensions from the RCR body to verify my clips are going to fit in. Using a photo of Chuck's car, I am looking for

Dimension Question.png

  • "A" - the height of the pocket in the front and rear shells
  • "B" - If you have set your gaps, the height from the sponson top to the top of the slot in the shell
  • "C" - The width of the pocket
  • "D" - The approximate depth of the pocket in the shell
If you have a "RCR" that you've mounted the latch and can provide a photo, it would be very helpful

Thanks, in advance

Paul

That is not a Hartwell latch.

Rick, I am aware it isn't the Hartwell latch. It is the 'low price version' supplied by RCR. I used that picture since it depicted the openings well.

Its many Hartwell original latches for sale on ebay.uk, also from Tornado fighterplane spine panels. All at a fraction of the cost, and they are original Hartwell latches as used originally. At least make the slots to fit the Hartwells, then you can fit the garden latch first and at a later date if you find Hartwells you can retro fit them.

This should get you there.
The 3-1/2" plus 3/4" is your "A" dimension.
