Who makes low passenger side alternator bracket?

I’ve been hunting down a Gelscoe alternator bracket but they seemed to have closed and re-opened as GM Automotive Engineering LTD but when I contacted them there is no answer and phone seems disconnected. Does anyone have one for sale or knows any company that makes these brackets?

GM Automotive is very much in business. Andy and Jon are the two folks you need to speak with. They may be on travel supporting a race.
That’s great to hear! I wonder why their business phone line is disconnected though? I’ll keep trying their cell phones and see if I can get through that way.

Finally got a hold of them. It was my fault. I needed to omit the 0 from their phone number when calling overseas!!! Spoke with him and he doesnt think it would work on a 302 but told him that others have used it here and that the 289 was/is the same block as a 302. Hopefully I’ll get it shipped over and find out.

I believe Christian on here also has those brackets…..in the USA

Cannot see it on his product list but I had offered him mine for reverse engineering and he said he had one already

Hi all,
A friend made a pattern from my CAD many years ago and made several pieces. I think they are all sold. We may make more down the road, but don’t have any immediate plans.

Andy is in Belgium at Spa Summer Classics this weekend.
Racing his E type and giving driving lessons to others.
Had a nice chat with him today. Very friendly guy.
Thanks!! I’ve been talking with someone named Ole via email. He’s the one who said the bracket doesnt fit 302 without Gurney heads. Unknown why??

This might be completely out on the fields, based on some drawings of the GW head and the fav gulf bracket drawing.
With the "gulf" bracket the alternator is really low in the chassis. I guess they used a physically small alternator that probably sat rotated 90 deg ccw compared to this picture.

One "can of worms" here is the offset for the alternator. I got some dimensions from a unmachined casting;
The casting measures 2 5/8" between the lugs for the alternator. From what I found all ford alternators are 3" wide on this mount.
Now the original cast bracket has a bit of offset while the "gulf" bracket only got 1/2" from the head face to the back of the alternator mount lug.
Seems to be 2" on the cast one, which could correspond to replacing the waterpump with a shorty pump which is about 1,5" shorter (i think) and that was done on the gurney engines.

Not 100% sure what the below engine consist of in terms of crank pulley etc (a scan from bremar)
It has got a multirib pulley, the alternator is a from a 90's 5.0 engine.
With 1/2" from the head to the back of the mountinglug it seems to be in line with the crank pulley.

Any input appreciated.
If it turns out ok i can make some sketches and upload here so you guys have something to start with for brackets.

The cast (non -Gurney) bracket boss spacing when machined is 3.0" which fits the normal small case Ford 1G or small case 3G alternators. The bracket is machined by Gelscoe to align to the shorty water pump provided you use the correct water pump and crank pulleys (I used CVF pulleys). I bought a small case 3G alternator which outputs 95 amps and uses a single groove pulley (not multi-rib). When you install it, make sure the main alternator bolt is put in from the rear or it will be impossible to remove once mounted.

So i got hold of the dimensions required. The original is 3" between the lug as stated above and 1,75" from the front face of the cylinder head.
I am almost done modelling a sheetmetal version and have to make 2d layouts.

Should i post it in this thread or elsewhere?
