wheels

hi folks i,m looking at putting a wide body rear on my car so i need to change the wheels . i like the the brm style knock ons (10.5 /8 inch wide ) that vintage wheels in the us have has anyone dealt with them and how was it . i,m in australia the car i have is a roaring fourties early chassis type any advice greatly appreciated

Hi Mark, I’ve dealt directly with Bob Lacey at Vintage. He’s great to deal with and very knowledgeable. In fact I’m planning on buying a second set of wheels (Halibrand style) from Vintage for my car in the near future. FWIW, I believe the BRM style wheels sold by Vintage are actually manufactured by Wheelcraft in South Africa. At least that’s what is cast into the wheels on my car (back side of spokes).

Not sure what Roaring Fourties requires regarding bolt pattern, offset and back spacing, but I believe Vintage can make custom wheel sets if their standard sets won’t work for you.

Btw, Image Wheels in the UK also make very nice wheels (albeit three piece) that you may want to consider. I have a set of wine glass Halibrand style (bolt on) wheels on my other car that I’ve been very happy with.

I think quality from both manufacturers is excellent based on my experience.

thankyoufor the info

Your wheel selection will be driven by what hub type and number of drive pins they have. There are members on the forum that have had Vintage make 13" or 14" wide rims in the BRM pattern. You should call Bob Lacy or email him directly. The image wheels are 3-piece versus Vintage being a 2 piece wheel.
