What are folks using for oil in their 427FE Side Oilers?

Looking for what oil type and weight folks are using in their 427FE side oiler. Mine runs great oil pressure 40psi+ when cold but about 5psi at idle when hot (comes up to 15-20psi at speed & increasing RPMs). With an oil change due and hot Texas summers approaching, I want a better oil pressure performance than my current 10w-30 (with ZDDP).

Should I be going straight SAE30, 15w-40, 20W-50…? I’ll stick with ZDDP added brands as it’s got a hydraulic cam (non-roller) that was before the recent cam issues to the best of my knowledge as the engine was build several years ago and is running great otherwise.

Lots of options and opinions I’m sure but really looking for those that have had good practical experience with the FE motors in particular as I’ve been a SBF guys for decades until the last several years.

I am running 15W50 with 1600ppm ZDDP in all my vehicles. I even ad some more ZDDP to it with Cam Shield additive.
My oiltemp usualy sits within 10% of my engine temp.
High oiltemps thins oil and affects oil pressure.

Agree on the high oil temp…I even have an oil cooler and 9qt pan just for that reason as well.

I use my 427FE Tunnel port on my 1963 Galaxie since several years on race tracks for trackdays.
My pressure is between 80 & 95psi when I start the engine 95psi when the weather is very cold. When the engine is hot, during hot days, at idle it can go down to 15psi. I use an Accusump to secure the starting conditions or when I get sharp curves and it is working great. I also use a oil radiator.
The best oil for me is the LeMans Motul 300v 20w60
In Europe all the teams that race with Cobra, Mustang, Chevrolet, GT40, small and big blocks use this type of oil. Even the teams that displays other brands sponsors, in the shop they put this type of oil.
This oil is very convenient for old type engine rebuilt with new technology inside (exept the cranck shafts that are allways manufactured with old processes!)
ZZDP is not a problem for me because I am with a full roller engine, but you may add some.
