Unanswered questions

I received my kit in October after close to a 2 year wait and I'm still missing almost all of the systems like AC, front air lift, transaxle, half shafts, steering rack, wiper system, shifter w/ cables, parking brake, Koso gauge, etc... I have tried repeatedly to get some questions answered but I get either no response or my questions are not addressed by RCR. Here are some of the things I'm trying to find out:

1. Is there a RCR provided flywheel that will mate a LS3 to a G96.01 clutch?
2. With the trans inverted and then flipped will the clutch slave cylinder be on the drivers side?
3. Should the rear Brembo calipers have the line connection the two sides as is on the front calipers?

Everything that I ordered is on b/o apparently.

Can any one answer my current questions?

1-Fran should be able to make you the needed flywheel.
2-Contact Kurt Hoffman on this forum. He has the LS/G96 combo installed. He received his flywheel from Fran. He has a great build thread.
3-The pedal assembly has one master cylinder that feeds the front brakes and one master cylinder that feeds the rear brakes. Both of these "feeds" pass thru the front bulkhead. Each one then connects to a 2lb brake residual pressure valve. After that the front line then enters a tee and splits to the front brakes. The rear brake line travels along the side of the chassis and then enters a tee and splits to the rear brakes.

My advice is to start a build thread. Most of the questions you have can be answered by us fellow builders here on the forum.

While waiting for backordered parts you can design/build a radiator shroud for the fans. Purchase LS7 exhaust manifolds and start modifying them. Install the headlights in the front hood. Install the tail lights in the rear hood. Go thru the suspension control arm mounts and centre the joints in their brackets by moving around/changing the washers used as shims. Plan your fuel system by first reading thru at least a dozen great build threads on this forum.

I purchased my flywheel and clutch from Fran. You will need a LS flexplate for an automatic transmission to go with it on your LS3 and a standard LS starter. The clutch I am running is also available on Rockauto. It is a basic Porsche clutch for a G96.01.

My G96.01 has 3.44 gears which equates to 200 MPH at 7,200 RPM. My valvetrain is built for that in my motor but I would not want to hold it there indefinitely. I believe that 4.00 and 3.00 gears are available for the G96.00 if the 3.44 does not work for you. I have had little seat time in my car since we have moved and are currently building a house. Everything including the SLC is in storage until the house is done later this summer (hopefully).

I've already got my brake and coolant lines run and pedals installed and I'm laying out the fuel system. The question I had was regarding the rear brake units. If you look at the front Brembo's there is a line that connects the inside and outside pistons giving you the correct compression from both sides of the rotor. On my rear calipers as seen in the picture the cross ports do not have the cross line to feed fluid to the outside piston as shown in a set I found to illustrate what I'm trying to figure out.

All four of my Brembo calipers have the jumper lines. Hopefully Fran sees this issue and makes it right. He seems to comment more on the Facebook SLC group these days.

Some calipers can be taken apart into two halves and a spacer that holds them at a set width apart.

Dependant on width of disc (non vented, vented etc) the spacer can be purchased thicker or thinner to match

After the thickness is sorted then the cross over tube needs to be made to match the desired set up

Scott, my calipers were shipped in the GM box brand new and those connecting tubes were already installed.

Worst case, should be pretty easy to fabricate as long as you find the correct fitting.

The caliper people have been posting about on line is an older one that Brembo discontinued. You can see the part number on the label if you expand the photo and check the status yourself. We had a lot of uprights already produced and on the shelf and this discontinuation cost a bunch of money.

The calipers on your car is a newer spec and is correct. No crossover tube.


Looking at the Brembo site, looks like they are moving away from the external crossover tube on all their calipers. Curious why they still retained the ports in the castings of the housing.

I guess they would be the bleed nipple location. ports at each end means they can be fitted which ever way up is required ?
