Just looking to see what variation/combination people have come up with. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of info on the possible mixes.

I’m not sure if there will be an area to comment after you select an option. But feel free to add any info. I will attempt to add your selection if it is not listed.

I’m looking at a g86.10 it will be interesting to see what people use.
G86.10 is purported to be considerably weaker. The G86.20 has the same internals as the G96 and either should be good for 400+ torque/hp if treated properly. I’ve heard no more than 300 hp for the G86.10 but don’t know many who have tried to honestly test it.

Since I do is a bit sparse, I have heard the same thing. I wasn’t able to find them anywhere I looked. But I’m not in any particular rush but in my short time looking for them these seem to be plentiful. I don’t intend to run more than 350-400 hp. And I intend to build a road car version more so than the race car version Mk1.

We will see what I ultimately end up using when the time comes but I do appreciate the advice!

I would check availability where you live. Some of the gearboxes are getting rare and also starts getting quite old. No point of sourcing a un1 if 01e, 0a2 or similar is more available

That is something I have been taking into account as well. We seem to have an abundance of Porsche around here for reasonable money. There is a guy who auto crosses a gt40 and he uses a g86.1 seems to handle that well.

Ideally a quaife or reproduction zf but maybe down the road.

Renault un and Porsche g50 used to be popular, getting kinda vintage and prices going up.
Now if you look into vag 01e, 01x, 0a2 and Porsche g86, g96, g97 etc they all seem to share some components. Some of them just some circlips but still mix and match.

One of the main differences is whether you want the diff over or under the input shaft.

In my opinion, unless you shift like you are escaping from a bankrobbery or send it with a monster engine and wide sticky tires on a prepped drag strip you wont be able to kill any of the above.

Regardless of which one you will probably want to swap in a lsd which will cost roughly the same.

So i would just have a search at local salvage yards to see what is available for a decent price.
