I will spare you tons of pictures as they are well known.

And Randy already posted some  > https://www.gt40s.com/threads/randys-rcr40-mki.57066/post-597418

Just saw that they have a special event on September 7-8, 2024 >https://www.thehenryford.org/current-events/calendar/old-car-festival/

And then there was the Summit 47th Annual Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire...... Not sure what this was - not a real drag racing event, but still a lot of fun.
In 2005 I was in Vegas and saw a "real" NHRA National race weekend....
At least my son was able to experience a few Top Fuel and Funny Car passes - which is unreal, as well as the smell of freshly burnt Nitromethaneo_O

Markus. You experienced more in your short stay in the US than 80 percent of US people will experience in a lifetime. I used to do the NHRA, and IHRA events most weekends for many years. I live less than 200 miles from a lot of the places you visited. The Gilmore Museum is down by my daughters house less than 75 miles away. I have steered many people to it over the years, but have never visited. As I am still off from work recovering, you have convinced me I must go. Soooo, it's on my schedule for next Wednesday to visit. THANK YOU for your reporting and picture taking of all of these places.

Regards
Brian

Hi Brian,

Yes, I'm very fortuntate to have the chance to do all of this - living in Germany helps in regards of vacation days (when working in right branch)...

But the above trip was only as good as it was because of you guys who answered all my stupid questions - and some extra patience when I asked even more stupid questions. All the more reason to come back and contribute to the forum.

What makes me especially happy is that you (Brian) liked it and motivated you to visit the museum - you are the mother of the company (I hope that makes sense in English) - you take care of everyone, you welcome the new ones, you ban the bad ones, you kick ass when necessary. Thanks for all that.
I wish you a good recovery.

And then of course we visited RCR and Fran Hall.

Fran, if you are reading this - thanks again for taking the time to give us a tour of the factory and for the nice chat.

It's really amazing what's going on at RCR - too much to see and too much input in a short amount of time.

Not too many pictures - there are plenty on the forum.

And, like written before, they do exist....

I slowly come to the end of my feedback....

Visiting the USA is always fun, but also requires some driving.
We drove 2133 miles and got a gas mileage of 24.4 - not too bad in my opinion.... Ok - the alternative rental car would have been a small car like a Mitsuhishi Mirage with up to 43 mpg. But I think the extra $ in fuel was worth it for the better comfort.

But even when driving long distances, there is always something to see along the way. Ohio and part of Pennsylvania reminded me a lot of where I'm from > https://www.google.de/search?sca_es...VDGGb8QBSgAegQIBxAB&biw=1528&bih=740&dpr=1.25

No wonder a lot of migrants settled here in the old days. Sadly, a lot of the farms don't seem to be in operation anymore - but that's the same on my side of the pond.

Finally - last post about the trip - I covered pretty much everything except the food ;).

Yes, I know - not healthy at all, but at least authentic:cool:

Thanks again for all the input - I will add some more pics of the reunion in the upcoming days.

Take care,
Markus

Markus,

I rented an F150 crew cab 4x2 with the 2.7 Ecoboost engine/10 speed automatic to haul all the crap we needed to Pittsburgh. 70 MPH plus and I got 27.2 MPG. I didn't think that too bad for better than 5500 pounds moving down the road. While I appreciate the utility of a truck, I don't want one for a daily driver, but sedan choices are narrowing fast.

Just to complete this pfa the contact of Mark Rotary which represented ZF NA at the Reunion - unfortunately it seems that inquiries need to to trough Germany which does not make it faster.... if anybody has other information, please let us know.

When I spoke to Mark Rotary at the reunion he said that you should contact ZF in Germany, but you should CC him in your emails so he can help if necessary.
