Rear wheel bearing preload

Working with rear uprights, new bearings and driveshafts.
Outer stub axle goes thru outer bearing to the inner bearing, just. Driveshaft "yoke" and outer stub axle meets inside of inner bearing. But there is plenty of gap. I have milled shim rings to fill the gap and to get preload for bearings.
Btw, some guy from uk said he don't use any shims, just adjusts it by tighten the nylock nut and add glue. Hard to believe, as if my memory works, there are shims originally.
Question is how much should i add pre-load?

Under the yoke you should have a ring, looks like a flanged collar (pn gt40p/7/5262)
Between that spacer/collar thing and the hub the drawing calls for gt40p/5/4520-4534 "to suit", so that would be your shim.
The drawing says to tighten the nut to 160ft.lbs.

Does not answer your question with regards to bearing preload but i guess you can use the same approach like on standard cars with tapered bearings; Adjust to no play and tighten just a tad more.
