Newguy

My name is Bill Hardy, and I own CAV #45 conceived by Dr. Wayne Jeffers, hereafter known as MAD DOC. Over the past 3 years, I've done 2 major disassemblies, refabricated 5 major systems, eventually making the transition from mad doc's car to my GT-40. Credits to Dr. Jeffers. He spaired no expences in his vision.
So what have I got? My version of #1046 - the first Le Mans winning GT-40 driven by Bruce McLaren And Chris Amon - Jet Black with silver stripes, Keith Craft Shelby alloy FE running a new ZF (RBT) - and fueled by a "Gently" modified FI manifold converting a Lucas mechnical system to a common rail electronic port system. Thanks Kinsler, beautiful work. Kenetic Engines of indy fitted the engine to the car and built the bundle of snakes. Chris of Kenetics last words of advice were" Bill- be careful- that thing will kill ya,"
My contributions included reengineering the cooling system, eliminating a big air lock that had all my coolant sensors in air not water. I added a new line and now I have heat. I had to plumb in a surge tank for the fuel system. No more hesitation. Biggest fabrication problem was shift linkage. To remove all the slop in the system I tapped and threaded each of the 4 u-joints. No more missed shifts. Lastly I built a new throttle assembly. Much easier to drive.
Mad Doc had a great painter do this car. I started showing the gt this July, and its won 1 best of show, 4 1st places, and a couple of spectator choice awards.
My one variation from 1046 is that my car is a MK1 and 1046 was a MK11. I just like the shape -that sensous shape - of the MK1. A spectator called it " J Lo butt" I agree.
As soon as I figure out how, I'll start putting photos up someplace. I admire the talent you guys have to make this site work. - Bill

Welcome Bill always nice to see another active CAV owner join the site. As many others will tell you "its not real unless we see pictures." I'll look forward to seeing your car. Did you make any upgrades to the electrical system? Just curious as some of the early #'d car owners advise of issues with the electrical system. I have # 82 and I've endured some gremlins. Unsure if they are factory related or not though.
