MKII handbrake cable routing to brake pedal

After researching the under dash Anglia handbrake lever used in some original GT40's.... the handbrake lever was connected by a cable (on rollers) that attached to the servive brake pedal so the "handbrake" merely engaged the hydraulic brake system. Does anyone have photos of this configuration?

The MKIIs did not have handbrakes (race only). I believe only the MKI road cars had them.

If the car is equipped, the pedal casting will have a T-slot machined into it directly behind the brake pedal.

I can’t remember the source, but it is my understanding that the hand brakes were not intended to be functional. They were only installed to meet requirements much like the spare tire.

I had read that some of the first Superformance cars used this set up but some States do not allow.Think Rick Muck had commented on this some years ago.

This is my set up. You can see the attachment point behind the brake pedal

Just a few pictures of my SPF relocated parking brake handle, cable and attachment to the the brake pedal. Didn't want to replicate all the original brackets in Jmac's posting above, so I just went straight in with the cable and a custom support bracket and cable end. Since I have a left hand driver had to "flip" over the original right side Anglia brake handle, so fab'ed a custom bracket to mount under the dash. The whole set up took a lot of thought, but happy as it works really really well. I just push the brake pedal down and pull the hand brake and all four are locked up. The only concern I had with this set up was to make sure the parking brake attachment does not limit the pedal travel when hard on the brakes, but there is plenty of travel.
All this to eliminate the center console handbrake, but this also allowed the shifter cables to run straighter out the firewall. Also eliminates the parking brake cables to the rear brakes, cleans up the engine compartment. Shifter works a bit smoother and interior feels a bit larger with the center console gone.
