GT 40 MK II outside mirrors?

Mark, there are several types that look good on a 40, but I think they’re all functionally marginal at best. I’ve tried F1 type mirrors (still have them) and now have spun aluminum Raydots (convex) installed. I like the looks of the Raydots, but the view rearward is limited.

Some owners seem to like the Vitaloni Californian mirrors, but I have no experience with them.

Also, I think the chrome bullet style mirrors are a nice looking option, but again, marginally functional. I have a new set that were delivered with my car, but I never installed them.

Thanks Mike that helps. I did see some Vitaloni that i like the way they mount to the car --they dont look like a stick is attached--im thinking get the convex mirror for sure. Thanks for your input

Where are you looking to mount them? My experience is that the ones mounted on the front fender are pretty worthless unless you are looking for a great view of the rear scoops.
I mounted mine on the side windows, and I think they give a decent view to the rear.
Some have seen the need for a backup/rear view camera, but I don't need that on my car. I can see pretty well between the exterior and interior mirrors. But I don't drive in heavy interstate traffic. Mostly track time or rural highways.

I am running classic Engelmann mirrors on my MK2.
Found also on many classic Opels like GT & Manta etc.
If Opel is the source than they also have a GM stamping.
Mine are without GM stamping.

My nearside mirror is spaced out as you can. see in the pictures.
Sight is very good with these. Way better then the Sebring Vitalony I tried before.

I have the original (metal) Vitaloni Sebring.
Imho it's the best looking and period correct, but not very functional.
Mine are mounted on the fender, ner the fuel caps. Yes, you can see what's behind you, and if set properly, not the rear air scoops.
But as for most mirrors, the mirror itself is quite smaal, which limits the view. Convex mirrors might help, but I have no experience with them.

I have three sets of original metal with Sebring logos. One set was painted and I painted them in Gulf Blue. The glass was poor so I bought two blanks of Convex mirror and cut new pieces. Still sanding edges of Convex but should make for better view and coverage.

Hello-
Anyone know what this mirror is? Mine are similar to this, but with a smaller/ shorter stem.

Thank you!
