Follow Frank's advice. Here are some more pics.The slotted disc set up is to adjust the linkage to get the exact correct position of the gear lever.
A useful bit of information is that is you buy the GROUND 5/8"stainless steel rod (the unground is too tight and won't work, I seem to remember that when I measured the ground rod it was 0.623" , 5/8"is 0.625) ) it is a nice sliding fit in a 5/8" rose joint. This makes all the system bearings and sliding joints easy to achieve.
