Fernando blames the traffic? So no one else has problems with traffic in a Formula 1 race?

FERNANDO ALONSO

"Second was the maximum we could really do today. We decided to change the strategy during the race to a shorter fuel stop for the middle stint, hoping we would be able to maintain the lead after the second stop. Unfortunately we did not build enough of a gap to Ferrari during this period, and Kimi’s six laps with less fuel were too much to overcome. It was a gamble but definitely the right thing to do. I had a few problems with traffic, and we didn’t quite have the pace of Ferrari, so it didn’t pay off. The points are very important for the Championship, and we will work very hard at the test next week, in Spa-Francorchamps, to regain our advantage."

Hi Wanni,
Save everything. I am coming to Imola to visit my friends and Bologna to visit Ducati just before the grand prix in Monza.
I also want some secrets.....
I am about to buy an ice cream machine - what is the best in Italy for home use, as I can pick it up along with my annual purchase of vino from Castle Bolognese ?

Just finished watching it myself. Spectacular drive by Massa, solid by Raikonnen, and....what was his name......Lewis.....who? LOL :pepper:

Seriously though, 9 races, 9 podiums. Great record but time to show his stones cos the Ferrari's have got schum....er....Kimi on form with a good car under him. I'd be surprised if Kimi doesnt win the world title IF the car holds form.

It's green tea ice cream - sort of almost narcotic.
Anyway, normal service was resumed at Silverstone last week and I'm back on the road to the Nurbugring next week. Just had a request to do the 24hr in Spa the subsequent weekend from Bartels running Maserati MC12, though I'd promised me, personally, a short break in Styrische Austria prior to Budapest. I think Austria may just prevail as 3 races in 3 weekends is a punishing routine let alone the mileage involved.

Button - John : great guy
Button - Jenson : Gobshite. Yesterdays man. No hoper. Speaks highly of me.

.....We spoke of him as 'Coulthard the second' (nearly but not quite), but since he's won just about nothing we now refer to him as 'Coulthard wannabe' :D ......

It's a shame we don't see the drivers in exact spec cars, so driving skill truly shows through....I'd like to see Coulthard, Button, Davidson and Hamilton get it on on a nice challenging track and see who really excels, then front the winner up against Mansell and M.Schumacher etc. Lets face it, the sport is now (IMO) more about the car than the driver. Even the strategy and pitstops count as much as the driver to a point.

Would Hamilton have the 9-straight-podium record he has now if he started off in a Spyker, Red Bull, Honda or Williams? I Think not.

Dave,
Your are spot on. He would be sucking the hind tit, like most of the rest.
It's all manufactured hype but it really sold a lot of Union Flags and stupid tee shirts last weekend.rockonsmile

Thursday, 12 July 2007 The relationship between Indianapolis Motor Speedway and F1 came to an end today when Tony George and Bernie Ecclestone could not reach an agreement on the sanctioning fee to continue hosting the USA GP at the brickyard.

Ron Green, spokesman for the track, said both parties were leaving the door open for possible future events.

This leaves the USA without a F1 Grand Prix in the future as other attempts have failed to host the event at venues such as Long Beach, Watkins Glen and Phoenix.

Ecclestone has looked into running a race in Las Vegas, but no agreement has been announced.

Representatives of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have been requested to appear before an extraordinary meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Thursday, July 26, 2007.

The team representatives have been called to answer a charge that between March and July 2007, in breach of Article 151c of the International Sporting Code, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes had unauthorised possession of documents and confidential information belonging to Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, including information that could be used to design, engineer, build, check, test, develop and/or run a 2007 Ferrari Formula One car.

What would any future F1 Grand Prix race be called in the USA if Bernie Ecclestone were to find another venue to host a race? Is the only other obvious alternative to call it the USA Grand Prix?

Would Tony George allow the use of the term 'U.S. Grand Prix' for any race in the states?

McLaren reacts to the FIA

McLaren has put out a statement saying that it is "extremely disappointed to note that it has been asked by the FIA to answer a charge of being in possession of certain documents and confidential information belonging to Ferrari".
The team says that despite this disappointment it will continue to cooperate fully with the FIA but wishes to "make it very clear that the documents and confidential information were only in the possession of one currently suspended employee on an unauthorised basis and no element of it has been used in relation to McLaren’s Formula 1 cars".
The statement does not say that the information was not seen by other McLaren employees, as is being claimed in various media outlets around Europe.
The FIA statement earlier in the day raised one or two interesting questions as it included a rather longer period of time than expected, mentioning March to July. All previous suggestions have been that Coughlan received the data from Ferrari at the end of April. This suggests that the FIA knows more than it is letting on about when Coughlan began receiving Ferrari information and implies that McLaren's chief designer may have received more than one delivery of information rather than the full 780 page document arriving at one particular moment.
The only possible explanation for this is that the federation has had access to Coughlan's affadavit. When asked if this was the case, an FIA spokesman said "no comment".
The FIA says that the reason there was no action taken against Toyota over a similar question was because there was complaint in that case, while in this case Ferrari has made a complaint. This is an odd explanation as the FIA's job is to regulate the sport and it should not need a complaint in order to take action if it feels that action is necessary.

Dave, the pioneer company in ICE CREAM machines is CARPIGIANI, but I do not know if they build home units. Anyway I will check in a magazine that I receive monthly called IL BARGIORNALE where all those things are advertised and they are in the semi-professional level.
I will come back about.

Ciao

I have a magnum of Brunello di Montalcino which I want to kill with you when you come.
