Engine ID help

Hey fellas and felettes, I have the opportunity of picking up a 302 with 289 heads. And a 351w.

If someone could help me decipher the engine casting number. That would be great. I’ve done some research but it doesn’t seem to cover all the markings this one has. Also it looks to me the 6 in 6015 is upside down.

Any help would be great!

Its a 351W
D9 = 1979
6015 = Ford's part number for an engine block
ED = revision from original part, starts with A-Z then AA-ZZ

No idea what the 24 is

Not sure either what the 24 means. The A in D9AE signifies the Ford carline. Each carline had its own letter assigned. However, just because it has an A in the prefix doesn't preclude it from being used on other carlines too. The E naturally is for Engine Division. Therefore a part number with a prefix of E9ZB would be a 1980 Mustang Body part. While spending years in Ford Motor's Product Development, I found their part numbering system very easy to work with. Standard Parts (nuts, bolts, screws, etc. were another story.
