Audi 01E shifter gate

I will be doing a shifter gate for my build at a soon to be stage.
But I Can't figure out a neat solution for locking out the reverse gear at the gate.
Are there any pictures of that kind of solutions that are somewhat easy to manufacture without an cnc machine?
Maybe a strong loaded spring on the gear selector arms at the transmission would be a good solution ?

Following this. How did you do the gear linkage out of interest? Could you post some pics?

This is roughly how it looks on the original lockout.
There is a spring going into that washer which is not shown...
