Alternator and AC

Hello,

I am using an LS3. I am looking for the proper location for the AC and Alternator. The high locations look like they won’t fit the rear shell. Can anyone help? I am wasting a lot of time here. RCR is terrible in terms of guidance.

The vintage air Sanden AC compressor should have come with brackets to mount it on the lower passenger-side of the block. I used an alternator bracket from an LS3 Camaro (if memory serves) to mount that on the lower driver's side. If you do a search in for AC compressor and alternator mounts I've seen a bunch of different approaches, but most do lower mount brackets for both.

My Sanden compressor didn’t come with brackets. Both Holley and ICT has lower passenger side brackets, but they are 2” into the body of the car. Chris from Kurbmeister Klotz made his own custom brackets and they worked. I am trying to get ahold of him. Chris used a very small alternator which worked with the assistant of a small custom bracket. I am copying that for the alternator. On the driver side. I’ll have a race shop custom make an adequately powered small alternator. Chris used an Sendon 90 amp alternator. Unless I can get some solution for the AC compressor, I am thinking about throwing in the towel and to use an electric one at this point. That’ll eliminate routing the hoses through the tunnel. I am disappointed with RCR’s lack of a manual. A single info sheet could save us all a lot of time. RCR is a disappointment in many areas. Every builder has to figure out how to mount the tank. RCR should just weld some ears on the tanks.

I ran into the same issues - the brackets that came with the Sanderson compressor would not work without cutting a recess in the chassis for clearance. I made up custom brackets for both the alternator and compressor. I also reverse mounted the alternator forward of the block where there is lots of space available. Compressor mount pictures are in my thread on page 7.

Thx Jim. Makes me more pissed by the moment. Everyone who buys an RCR has to figure out (design and build) brackets for the fuel tank and accessories. Great solution on your part. Your car looks awesome.
