The first two, that's about right, and that's about what we picked. The second one looks like the Jaguar color that I thought was too orange, too warm. Nice looking cars, byt he way. Where are they?

I don't know, since I collect info around GT40 what type I like and or different set ups and colors/stripes and brands and mirrors, wheels etc etc I came across many GT40 and collect the pictures but not the data who's car it is/was, I think its a KVA by brand, at least thats what I tagged it under.
maybe some members here know.
In Fez Red they are hard to find, are you also gonna detail with stripes or so?

No stripes, at least not to begin with. Maybe a rocker panel stripe later on, if people keep asking me what it is....but not very likely. I tend to like understated cars where the paintwork doesn't overwhelm the shape. These cars have so much eye appeal for the shape alone that I hate to make it any more complicated than it has to be. Everyone has their preferences and I've seen a lot of them, especially on this forum, that are beautifully done with stripes, scoops, vintage product badges, etc. Kind of like the GT40 shape as the canvas on which to paint what you want. For myself, I'd like it as simple as possible and just let the styling speak for itself; I even struggled with putting chromed mirrors on it, but originality won out when someone put me in touch with a fellow Forum member who has a set of vintage Sebrings he's willing to part with....

Came back from work today to find the car in the paint booth, they had just finished spraying the color and clear on the chassis. Looking good; they will wet sand and buff it. I think the front and rear bodywork is next, then the doors and rockers (the trial paint on the one rocker will get done over) I guess then we'll have to put it all together, won't we...

New digital speedo arrived today. That will be an improvement although the GPS speedo Ron mentioned..now that would be the absolute bomb. Wish I'd thought of that idea.

By this time tomorrow, things will look different. With any luck, these will be my last photos of this car in primer. Following spraying the car, the eyebrows, rocker panels and the nose panel will be sprayed separately. The body shop also went back (I might add, at no charge to me) and redid the center of the steel roof, which they felt had a dip in it which did not look as good as the rest of the car. So they pulled it out, smoothed it, and reprimed the area. And it does look quite a bit better.

The car will be wetsanded and buffed out after all this paint is dry and cured, and then I guess we have to build it into a running vehicle, don't we?

Thanks. It will be a bit weird to be putting things on the car knowing that they are actually going to stay on it, and that it is going to get started up and driven. At least, that's the plan.

Thanks to all of you gentlemen, and when it's done, no matter where you are, you'll hear the howls of joy (and of tires) just by opening your window- you won't even have to pick up the phone, regardless of how far away you are.

Great for you! You must feel like a kid before Christmas! Actually I would.

She will look everyday more and more like the running car you were imagining...

Lucky guy, window's already opened, and hearing for you...

Olivier.

If I could quit my day job, she'd be done by now. Of course I wouldn't have any $$$ left over for fuel, then, would I...

Down to the paint shop tomorrow, to see what she looks like, and get some photos. They still have to spray the nose panel and the rockers, and then buff everything, but after that, it's showtime; we have to start putting her together.

I'd love to come round and help, Jim. But Sydney (Oz) is a hell of a swim away. And sometimes, at the end of a project when you've done the hard yards, it is really nice just bolting the final bits together yourself, savouring these final moments.

Then you register the dream (easier said than done in some areas), and start driving, and pulling it apart to fix the rattles, leaks, and everything else that isn't quite perfect. But late at night you'll sneak out to the garage to just sit there going "vrrrm, vrrrmmmm" and dream of great road trips.

This morning..car looks lighter in photos than it actually is; the color is darker and slightly colder than it reads via the camera. Altogether this choice turned out very well; it looks good.
