Axle bar shortening

Now that I am moving forward with mock up. I addressed that my suspension is about 1.25" narrower than what I started with and now my axles are in need of shortening. I have been quoted for new bars $1500. I have 375 to 400 max flywheel horse with my engine formula. For this kind of money I am thinking about cutting and welding and sleeving the current bars I have.

What are the thoughts, buy new bars or cut, weld and sleeve.

Thanks
David

What length are you after?
There could be something the right length out there already and crazy to reinvent something.

For example in my DAX with a Renault box ran VW Type 2 driveshafts. …..From EMPI a replacement set, CV’s and Boots came in around £250.

On a friends Cobra, they shortened a set of Ford Explorer half shafts for under $100/ea if I remember correct. Guess that's not an option for you.

But they can also make them from new material given your old shafts as a template if EMPI doesn't have an off the shelf solution.
