1969 Ford GT40 Lightweight GT40 P/1080

It is where they were mounted on the Gulf cars when the battery was locating at the rear, ( it's not the correct style of solenoid though, it's a late version they have used here ).
It is an odd place yes, but the driver has access to it if he needs, whether he likes or not lol

Hi Ron,
Yes, there appears to be a standard Lucas disconnect switch there but it is below the solenoid and lower down on the bulkhead.
As Boris mentioned the solenoid pictured is a "later" Lucas or Ford Europe type.
Here is a similar one fitted inside the B pillar of another original chassis.

LMC has the touch. Peter rolled this car out at the right events. Not really sure what he said about the odd history this car has. This was the Angola car, then in was smuggled to Spain in parts, then impounded, then it just showed up at LMC
