Wait, unelected what? Where does that nonsense keep coming from? EU has a parliament and would if the national legislatures were dissolved. Hell, it would likely be less corrupt and more democratic than the national leadership of some EU countries now.

And those proposals? Musings of two ministers. You know the US had a plan to invade Canada well into the 1930s? And Cuba into the 90s? Musings. Not going t happen.

I must have missed something as I only saw 2 boxes leave or remain and I put my X in one

How does the EU saying English is no longer an official EU language, SINCE THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES IN THE EU, "whining from liberals?"

English is the international language of business. It is the common denominator language among all the member nations of the EU. Punting it as an official language could be interpreted as petulant.

No. In the EU, English is ONE of several languages of business. I'd say French is just close to as common across the EU. France, Switz, northern Italy, Belgium, etc. And French is probably the most common second language after English.

Petulant? Maybe. Commonsensical since the UK is out? Yes. Pretty Anglo-centric to get upset about it? Yep.

I have made no secret of the fact I am in the remain camp, and I think it would be a disastrous route to follow, civil unrest would no doubt follow, but before we all get as exited as Mr Farage a word of caution.

Brexit can be stopped, either by our democratically elected MP's who may come to the conclusion that it is best for the country to remain, or it could be our unelected members of the house of Lords that could block it, quite ironic really.

I've just finished watching the complete video and it's very well done. I had no idea of the complexity of the EU and the staggering bureaucracy that comprises it. It sounds almost Orwellian. I was surprised that of the seven principal decision-making bodies (the institutions of the European Union), the European Council, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, and the European Court of Auditors only the Parliament is popularly elected (universal suffrage) and apparently it does not formally possess legislative initiative. Parliament can amend and reject legislation, to make a proposal for legislation, it needs the Commission to draft a bill before anything can become law. By comparison it make the operation of the UN look like a Swiss watch.
The other take away from my learning is that your Nigel Farage fellow is quite the piece of work. He reminds me of a polished Donald Trump without the psychotic megalomania. He certainly has all the drama though.

As elsewhere, I suspect you will see the difference between the politicos and the leaders emerge in all this. The politicians will posture this and that but the leaders will actually chart a path forward. If they emerge (I don't know enough about British politics to opine on that) they can create the trade agreements and governance to be a big win for the UK and a win-win for the Eurozone. That will bring stability to the markets and life can go on. If the leadership devolves (as it has here in the US) to partisan bickering, it will fail.

Given the frightening overreach of the EU, I'm not sure if or how long it will survive BREXIT. The problem with big bureaucracies is they end up having themselves as their primary client/customer. They lose the vision of their founding principles and constituencies. I suspect if the EU had stayed in it's original lane of EEC type governance, there would never have been a BREXIT.

Jeff, seriously. If the EU does business within it's borders the one language that is the most common denominator is English. By far. Yes, in northern Europe French is very common, but in southern Europe, eastern Europe, and northern Europe, if you don't know the native language, chances are the one language the two will have in common is (wait for it, wait for it) English. If the EU does business with the worlds largest economy, the language they need is English (albeit with a funny American accent). If they do business with India, you need English, etc etc etc. Unless you want to learn 40 or so native tongues, the one language that most non-3rd world economies have in common is English. So, only an idiot would eliminate it as a recognized language of the EU.

I was in Rome last Friday morning. Whilst it was an insignificantly small sample of people spoken to, the feeling was, if the UK can stand up for themselves then perhaps we can too.

It is interesting to see the American style of discussing politics being applied to a UK/EU situation. Not used to that style! Hope no one gets ulcers over this.

My local MP just stood for leadership of the Tory party which surprised me so maybe, just maybe I will have to get used to calling him Prime Minister rather than Michael.

There is a backlash both at home & abroad. Curious. Some English friends working in Switzerland told to "go home".. and here, Polish people being told to "speak English" etc.

People are stupid..

For those who don't know him - he is considered to be quite a way to the right but as a member of a legitimate political party in Great Britain, his views deserve to be heard. Sorry if it offends some people but you don't get at the truth if you suppress debate and it's good to hear all sides instead of indulging in confirmation biased media...
