Hello -- Hoping to track down a car

Hi Everyone- new to the forum, a huge fan of the GT40 and setting off on a mission and hoping this site may be able to help.

I am trying to track down an ERA GT40 that my late Father built.

It is VIN # 2063 and was registered as a 1968 mark 1.

After his death the car was sold thru Anthem Motors in Phoenix AZ to a "gentleman from Germany". The sale happened sometime in 2007/08.

Not much to go on, but hoping to maybe find where it ended up.

Any help or direction would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Thats it-- at my dads house. The car was beautiful -- and fast as hell.

I have a few pics but don't recall those-- not sure how to post pictures so thank you for sharing.

Maybe someone will recognize it and be able to help me out.

Thanks again

My goodness...what an absolutely beautiful car!

I hesitate to point out the obvious...but have you contacted ERA? Perhaps they have been contacted by the current owner if parts were needed, etc. It's just an idea...

ERA has quit offering their GT40 kit...they are concentrating on their fine line of Cobra replicas. They told me that they might resume production in the future if there was enough demand...I guess the demand for Cobra replicas, parts and service was just too much to continue offering all the kits they marketed.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Doug .... the car was stunning. My dad and his fiends put a ton of effort into it and it really showed.

I did reach out to ERA but unfortunately they weren't able to help as they were never contacted by the buyer after the car changed ownership. Anthem Motors closed their doors a few years ago but I am going to try to track down the owner and see if any records were retained.

Im hopeful sooner or later someone recognizes it -- sure wish I had paid more attention to the details of the sale when it happened.

Thanks again

Perhaps the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles? They may have had to transfer the title to the licensing entity where the purchaser lives and have contact info for the purchaser? If so, it ought to be retrievable, although who knows how much you may have to go through to get it.

Good luck! Do you plan on trying to buy it back when you locate it?

Cheers!

Great ideas guys- thanks so much.
I will definitely be looking into the Clubs and DMV.

This started out just as a curiosity as to whatever happened to it, but as time goes by I have to admit the idea of bringing it home has picked up a lot of steam…. tho convincing my wife may be harder than finding it!
