I had to break the brass fittings to get them out.
Several people have buried there fuel system in there. As Fran says, it is a difficult place to service. I also don't like the pump essentially inside the cockpit. Even allowing for the tank cover behind the seats, I still don't like it there. I built a mounting plate and located all the fuel system stuff on the chassis rails along side the engine on the outboard side in front of the rear wheels and right in front of the drivers side scoop.
I made it so the entire plate could be removed and the components serviced on the bench.
See my build log, SLC24 Howard Jones. Welcome aboard the SLC train! Anything I can do just drop me a PM
Throw it away and get another. It's not worth the time to fix and it will more than likely leak anyway.

A bit of advice kindly given.............. I spend twice as much time thinking as doing and I still frig things up from time to time. Slow down and enjoy the journey my friend.
How did you do that out of curiosity?
Squeezed it with vise grips until it cracked.
For the fuel pump accessibility, I cut the cover panel on the inside of the cockpit so I can remove the cover in front of the fuel pump area. Still will require taking the seat out and pulling the carpet back, but I can get to it if I need to.
Congrats! I'd like to arrange a time that is convenient for you to buzz over and take a look at it. My project is not going to happen until next year so would love to stop in and check yours out from time to time; even help as needed.

Your kid will have that picture for the rest of his days. One day when he is building his own ride (whatever that is in 40 years), he'll remember "My Dad did this to me"
LOL, I like the idea of having using my name as a curse word every time he compulsively buys car parts![]()
Sure thing CHuck, did you send me a PM? I can't remember, stop on over![]()
