Several people have buried there fuel system in there. As Fran says, it is a difficult place to service. I also don't like the pump essentially inside the cockpit. Even allowing for the tank cover behind the seats, I still don't like it there. I built a mounting plate and located all the fuel system stuff on the chassis rails along side the engine on the outboard side in front of the rear wheels and right in front of the drivers side scoop.
I made it so the entire plate could be removed and the components serviced on the bench.

Throw it away and get another. It's not worth the time to fix and it will more than likely leak anyway.

A bit of advice kindly given.............. I spend twice as much time thinking as doing and I still frig things up from time to time. Slow down and enjoy the journey my friend.

Squeezed it with vise grips until it cracked.
For the fuel pump accessibility, I cut the cover panel on the inside of the cockpit so I can remove the cover in front of the fuel pump area. Still will require taking the seat out and pulling the carpet back, but I can get to it if I need to.
I too made a plate. The high pressure pump, fuel filters and regulator are on one side, and the low pressure pump is on the other. The battery is located in the front trunk area.
I just broke it... No luck... Stuck in there.

I had to have a 'win' last night so I put together the pedals and master cylinders according to Allan's description of the 3/4 to the front and clutch and the 7/8th MC to the rear brakes. Cut the rods down to a comfortable position for each pedal, assuming I'll be blip-shifting, hence the brake pedal higher than the gas pedal.

Added some minor things, all stuff that has to get done. Still have yet to find a good way to get the tape residue off without some hassle. Oh well... Maybe it just takes more elbow grease.
Finished brake lines to the calipers. Had to remove the caliper on the rears to get the banjo bolts in, not a big deal.
FInally got her up on jackstands to do some of the more important work:
Master cylinder reservoirs. I was pleasantly surprised at finding pre-drilled holes for these on the drivers side. Made this so dang easy.
Buttoned up for the night
Finished brake lines to the calipers. Had to remove the caliper on the rears to get the banjo bolts in, not a big deal.
FInally got her up on jackstands to do some of the more important work:
Master cylinder reservoirs. I was pleasantly surprised at finding pre-drilled holes for these on the drivers side. Made this so dang easy.

Yes, except for the fact that there's a support rod that goes right where the pre-drilled holes are for the most rearward reservoir...
Hmmm... Don't seem to have that rod...
More updates:

My son is finally old enough to really help daddy in the garage, here he is drilling and tapping his very first hole!

That looks like a great helper, and he looks like he is really enjoying working on his Dad's car! Congrats on the progress.
On the brake reservoirs I just use the brake ones, left the slave cylinder on the master cylinder, then the other brace would work. Putting fluid in from inside the foot area is easier then taking off the front end, I wish I would of put them all down there, might still do that when I take the body off this winter to finish the insides.

Took the better part of a day to get this right and cut out plates for the door, but it works!!
